Trip Report: Relatives, Surfing

Posted by Hairy Porter on November 26th, 2007

Nothing to say here. Just “ahhhhhh.”

Like Tim Nickles’ recent post on time away, I am just back in town from a four week sabbatical. Actually, more like shock therapy. Every fall I make the mandatory homage home to see the folks and then head to the beach to get in one last use of my shorts. Read More »

Thanks and Giving

Posted by Lauren on November 22nd, 2007

Sad, but tasty. Thanks to all the birds who give their lives so we can dip them in gravy and cranberries.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday (or Buy Nothing Day) are days off for The Mountain Culture.

Today, I’m thankful that the puppy I’m fostering made me get up early to play in the snow, for my siblings who meet every year on this day and for the chance to wish strangers a gluttonous gleeful holiday when passing on the street.

(Oh, and the Turkey Trot, squash soup, enchanted forests and the show Heroes.) And thanks to all who visit this blog! Enjoy the feast and each other!

From Filmmaker Darrell Miller:

Considering the plethora of complaints about last seasons’ snowfall/winter, I think viewers will be surprised by how good of a season it really was in the high peaks.
The Man’s Business CardI personally logged over 100 days in the hills, 99 of them were killer-fun days with productive filming. Definitely snowboarding in Grand Teton National Park: Mt. Wister, Middle Teton, others… Beautiful people in beautiful places, most definitely.

In the middle of the drought, Jacksonites traveled around the world in search of the goods. France, Alaska, British Columbia are all featured behind the show-stealing Tetons and Jackson Hole.

Editor’s Note: Targhee opens today! Happy thanks and giving!
