Finally, Winter has arrived!
I’ve been really pissy lately.
The last few weeks have been rough ones. The anticipation of snowfall creates an unconscious anxiety that seems to permeate every other aspect of life.
Like any exciting project, it just doesn’t happen soon enough. Early season tours are great, but that first day when you finally get to sink a bottomless turn completely redefines my perspective. Unlike all the usual day-to-day work, errands, logistics, the reward actually exceeds the effort.
A simple hike up Glory rewards you with the ability to dump your brain of past and future.
In snow, the moment is finally realized; no anticipation of future, no regret of past. It all makes sense again and the brain gets balanced.
On Novenber 29 Ullr blessed us with balance: bottomless turns on the pass, followed by Darrell Miller’s annual stoke fest a day later and Apres Vous spinning laps the day after that. After a winter with 300 inches, and a Village without a clock tower, there seems to be hope again. Happy Winter!

The winter of ‘07 was sick, wasn’t it? Now where’s my kayak again?
JK. Good to see you up there again today. Not quite the blower of last week, but good to burn the lungs anyway.
December 4 10am: 41 degrees at the airport!
No more stressing about bad road conditions and high heating bills. No more down parkas and gore tex outer layers. I pulled out my surf trunk and flip flops this morning and pulled my studded tires off mt bike. After a long 4 DAY winter, spring has finally arrived.
Gotta love global warming.
Today was wet, but there’s still hope. Snow predicted in the forecast! Thanks, JK, for the “stoke.” Can’t wait to keep going up (and down).
You’re right, Psyched. The snow will come.
JK, nice distillation of the early season stoke.
