C.A.S.T.E.L. makes its JH debut

December 5th, 2007 by Lauren

Yes, we already posted a trailer (a longer one) when Trask McFarland and Arden Oksanen of Arris debuted this movie in Victor. But, this is the Jackson Hole premiere and it’ll be huge! (And maybe inspire some more snow?)

Hopefully, our karma score won’t go down for this semi re-post.

Here’s the JH info:

C.A.S.T.E.L: Culture Adventure, Sport, Travel, Education, Life.

Showtimes: 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8

Place: Playmill Theater (across from the Wort)

Cost: $10 at the door. All proceeds go to Teton County Search and Rescue

Bonus: Slideshows from photographer and adventurer Wade McKoy and Teton County Search and Rescue. Raffle prizes from Cloudveil, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Mountain Khakis.

From Arris’ official movie promotion:

“Visit Kashmir with all of its hostility and kindness in the unique setting of a massive ski area with a single lift, a French gondola that takes you to the top. Friendly Kashmiri faces mix well with untracked powder. This is Gulmarg, a destination not to be missed by world travelers. Gulmarg rests on a military line of control at the highly disruptive border between Pakistan and India. Needless to say, any adventure away from a well-traveled path is a risky endeavor.

Lower in the valleys and seemingly worlds away, a different image of India lives and breaths. Barefoot cricket matches ensue within the legendary landscapes of India and the Taj Mahal. Fruit and vegetable markets overwhelm one’s senses and “community,” reveals a new definition. If smiles were the currency of happiness, then here, as seen in this film, live some of the happiest people on earth!”

Come see, learn, support!

From Trask:

“Basically the film is a travel film, an adventure film, a ski film, a culture film all rolled up into one. Jackson local John Verdon and our lenses are the guides for the journey. We skied Gulmarg for three weeks with one great storm, but the area is still off the radar as a ski destination so even though there hadn’t been snow for over a month we arrived to fresh
tracks: the beauty of Himalayan snowpack.

We did get one storm and then two days of filming just before the gondola broke down for what we were told could be up to a month. So half our crew left for the sea and we went to Srinagar and then a tour of Agra Delhi and Jaipur: Three cities with three totally different characteristics but all three with shit tons of people (of course).”

So glad so many sites are posting this trailer. I’ve seen it on The Mountain Culture, TetonAT and The Snaz.

Yeah, Arris! Can’t wait to see the real thing!
