Not a Post: Year in Photos

Posted by Lauren on January 7th, 2008

Fire on the mountain.

2008 has been a fantastic year so far: The Firey New Year’s Eve gave way to snow-filled days. (We have had a few skier-triggered avalanches. Luckily no one has been fatally injured.) As we settle into another week of snow and another week of upholding our resolutions, I thought I’d offer some 2008 reflections via pictures.

While not action shots of buffalo skin-clad tandem snowboarders nor a high-def video of the most inspirational speech I’ve ever heard, this is my own year in photos. (And I’m allowed to do this ’cause today is my birthday.)

Enjoy my photography.
Or don’t. Instead, relish the heavenly pow, cozy up with your new Bose headphones and last year’s Top 10 Albums or drive the streets of Jackson with your heat blasting while discussing the merits of “man made” global warming.

The first week was spectacular. I’m looking forward to the next 51!

Training wheels at rest.Morning.

Whiteout.

Working inside.

Nice shoes. …

Painting.

Glory Train.

I’m not sure if I am feeling this blog. It seems just so Jackson centric.

Cloudveil seems a little too cool for school. Like don’t you wish you had my life in Jackson because I am so rad.

Makes the brand sound kinda of snotty.

Seems like they are going to post where they live…..not sure I can blame them.

    Where do you live?

I agree with both comments above. The easiest stuff to write about is local news and events. However, I do think Cloudveil should consider more company-related or organizational-related posts and not as much “Look how much snow we have” or “how many times can I tell everyone that I ski Teton Pass in the morning” style posts. Because those do get old, fast…especially for many of us that do the same stuff regularly. Let’s hear more about Cloudveil news, product, events, relationships, etc. Just a thought

Blogs are definitely a work in progress, and ours is no different. The obvious reason there are so many ski posts right now is that we’ve had some great storms and live in a community whose schedules revolve around accumulation. I live here to ski, and that’s about as real as it gets. As a Cloudveil employee/Jackson resident, even I can only read about sick powder days so many times, so I hear you there. Interesting that you would ask for more Cloudveil related stuff as we’ve actually tried to go out of our way to keep The Mountain Culture free of self congratulatory, back slapping Cloudveil PR. But, I think if done the right way, we’d be happy to work in more posts that offer a bit more insight into Cloudveil and what we’re doing here. So, thanks for that feedback.

With regard to the too cool for school, snotty perception. Labor Day parties in the Hamptons maybe, but Nature News by Cathy Shill, how to use Google Earth to track weather, New Year’s Eve torchlight parades, a silly (some might say stupid) parody of Delinquent Elves, I’m not seeing it.

Overall, thanks for the feedback. We hope that eventually the community will drive this site more than a bunch of us sitting at the Snake River Brewery on a Friday figuring out what to post next week. So, if anyone else wants to enter this fray, feel free.

More juicy insider information on wicking layers and waterproof laminates, PLEASE!

Option 2: “The Women of Cloudveil, in their birthday softshells.” Schwing!
