The Teton Art Lab is hosting a winterscape show for the month of February with an opening this Friday.

The Lab is located next to Teton Thai and is artist-owned and run. Several local artists will be showing their work, including first-timer, Mike Tierney, who is applying his graphic/graffiti style to a mountain that is dear to him: Cody Peak.

Having skied more lines on this mountain than probably anyone else in Jackson Hole, he has an intimate knowledge of all its contours, cliffbands and snow.

And I will also be showing a new plaster winterscape of aspen trees with shadows.

I came up with the plaster technique while helping my sister skimcoat her kitchen. I applied some plaster to the wall and then scratched it away with my finger. The contrast between the white and dark wall behind was striking and I immediately realized I’d come up with a way to capture the stunning scenes of winter here in Jackson.

Come see these cold ’scapes in the warm environment of the Lab, and enjoy the food, drink and friends that will be gathered there. Other galleries will also be hosting open houses, including Lindsay McCandless Contemporary, the Muse Gallery and Mountain Trails Gallery.
