The Mountain Culture

Profile: Little Yoga Warriors

Now that Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is closed, we thought we’d start telling stories of those who are doing things other than skiing. Here is the first. (For those who are still skiing, though, ROCK ON! The snow is amazing. -Eds.)

We believe creative story telling and magical illustrations encourage children to continue to view the world through fresh, new eyes. My friend and I started a company in 2007 called Little Yoga Warriors. Our mission is to educate children on cultural and environmental issues through children’s books.

How Do We Do This?
Until the publishing world steps up to the plate, and starts using printing methods that strive to create sustainable material, we will continue to self publish non- toxic and earth friendly books by using 100% PCW recycled paper, soy based inks, and 100% wind power. (No, that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a full-blown windmill on top of our printers building in upstate NY, but if it DID, I would be the first one to commend them for it.)

Our First Big Adventure:
In less than a month, we will travel to the Kingdom of Lo and Dolpo, Nepal. We will distribute 250 pairs of shoes and socks, donated by Soles 4 Souls, Chaco and SmartWool.

From Little Yoga Warriors.
A barren landscape, but a small Nepali thumb print that extends into Tibet, The Kingdom of Lo and Dolpo are considered to be the last enclave of unspoiled Tibetan territory on Earth.

Why shoes and socks?
Because these people rely on their feet way more then we do and feet are the foundation of our beings, often overlooked as a medical concern.
