Some mountain town residents are skiing powder in sun today, some are in Casper, Wyo. listening to two presidential candidates’ shpeals. For those that are stuck in front a computer, enjoy this video by former Telluride filmmaker TM Faversham. You may have seen it before, but somehow it never gets old. Maybe because we’ve all been there. …

Denver Climbing League: The Girls

Posted by Chuck Fryberger on March 5th, 2008

I recently shot some video of a Denver Climbing League event and I thought I’d post it here on the mountain culture.

The DCL is the longest-running youth climbing series in the entire country, and has served as a springboard for dozens of successful climbers including Tommy Caldwell, Daniel Woods and myself… among many others. While it is run as a competitive series, the main goal is improvement and enjoyment of climbing. I love attending these events because it is really cool to see hundreds of climbers and their supporters all come together under one roof. This video captures some of the action in the elite category of the girls division … where every competition is a toss up among several likely winners. Thanks and Enjoy!

It’s Getting Serious

Posted by Wogo on February 21st, 2008

If you recall a couple weeks ago we had a video post of our revival at the Outdoor Retailer show of the long forgotten aprés ski pasttime of Gelande Quaffing. The event at OR was just a warm up for the World Championships happening next Wednesday at the Village Café.

Our friends at team backcountry.com thought they’d intimidate us with a video on their training regimen. Flying in a world-renowned coach, using unorthodox methods, importing illegal 6% beer, and rumors even suggest there might be some HGH involved.

Here at Cloudveil our training is done in secret at an undisclosed location. We like to think of it as our Rocky Balboa, vs. their Ivan Drago.

And of course, we have home field advantage.

A friend sent me a link to this video today and I couldn’t resist posting it. I have no idea where this was taken, but the dog looks just as happy as any ski bum I’ve seen in these past few weeks! The music is a little cheesy, but I’m sure watching this will bring a smile to any snow lovers face.
